Smart Saving Strategies for Moms: How to Trim Your Budget Without Sacrificing Quality

My Journey in Budgeting

Hello there, new friends! I'm Kerissa, a mom of two and the proud owner of a small, family-run direct-to-consumer meat business. Our mission is to bring high-quality meat straight to your doorstep, making life a bit more convenient for busy moms like you. As we navigate the joys of parenting and entrepreneurship, my husband and I are currently in the saving phase of our lives, channeling every penny toward the growth of our business.

If you're on the lookout for effective ways to save money without compromising on the quality of your family's lifestyle, you're in the right place. While many people tend to focus on cutting grocery expenses, there's a smarter approach we should all consider – and that's addressing household waste.

Let's be real – have you ever found yourself tossing out a serving of potatoes simply because they got pushed to the back of the fridge? Guilty as charged! The truth is, minimizing waste at home can make a significant impact on your budget without sacrificing the things that matter most.
Savings money by reducing my waste
One way I choose to save instead of waste is by being intentional with my cooking. For instance, I saved the broth from the beef roast I made this week and repurposed it for another delicious meal. The enchilada sauce from a recent lunch also found its way into my saving containers, avoiding unnecessary waste. If you haven't seen these Souper Cubes you are missing out. My friend Jess recommended them and I have really started to utilize them. I don't believe in buying a gadget I wont use a lot. I plan to use them not just for leftover but to also make butter to freeze.

Beyond food, I've extended this intentional mindset to my laundry routine. I realized I was wasting laundry soap because I would start a load, forget to hang it up, and end up running it again. Being more intentional with my laundry has turned out to be a huge saver.
